Che month of May 2023 marks the 5th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and China. Difficult to venture into an assessment of the achievements of this new honeymoon between the two countries. China with or without diplomatic relations was a significant trading partner.

In the 1st quarter of 2023, China became our first trading partner, while it was 2nd in the last quarter of 2022, according to INSD figures. This growth in Chinese exports is valid for any continent. For the first four months of 2023, the figures speak for themselves.

“Between January 1 and April 30, 2023, Chinese exports to African countries jumped 26.9 percent over the same period a year earlier, reaching a total amount of $58.9 billion. Finished goods such as textiles, garments, machinery and electronics dominated Chinese exports to the mainland. In fact, it is politically that the Burkinabè expect the benefits of this idyll. More commitment in the fight once morest terrorism, in structuring investments. For the moment, apart from the Kua hospital and actions in the agricultural perimeters, many are waiting for the amplification of this comeback from Beijing.
