Effective Sunday: Temporary Closure of Medical Center Bus Loops Initiated

The bus loop at Medical Center Metro Station in Bethesda will close on select Sundays through the spring of 2026 for MetroRail construction starting this Sunday, Aug. 17.

During the closures, Montgomery County’s Ride On Bus Routes 34 to Wheaton and 46 to Montgomery College Rockville will board at Bus Bay H (stop #25504) on Rockville Pike, according to county transportation officials. Routes 34 to Bethesda and 46 to Medical Center will board at Bus Bay G (stop #25646).

Other Ride On routes that use the loop on weekdays, including Routes 30, 33, 70 and 101, will not be affected because they do not operate on Sundays.

Construction will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025

  • Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025

  • Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025

  • Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025

  • Sunday, March 1, 2026

The County zero-fare policy, announced in June, remains in effect for all Ride OnRide On extRaRide On Flex and Flash buses. Riders can find more information on transit updates at the county’s transportation portal, RideOnBus.com or by following @RideOnMCT on social media.
