Egisto Ott, the hunt for a Russian ex-agent and a suspended state security officer – domestic

In July 2017, Egisto Ott had a special concern. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, who was still working in the “covert investigation” department at the former Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism (BVT), sent an email to the Federal Criminal Police Office requesting a fingerprint comparison. Ott asked for “urgent support” and explained vaguely that it was an extremist or terrorist act of disruption to an international conference. Above the letter was emblazoned “Closure” in red letters. From the perspective of the recipients, the investigations were extremely sensitive. But maybe that was just a clever feint on Ott’s part.
