CAIRO, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) — The Egyptian National Electoral Authority (NEA) announced on Monday that the turnout in the ongoing presidential election until noon reached around 45 percent of the total eligible voters.

According to a statement quoting Ahmed Bendari, executive director of the NEA and head of its central operations room, there was a high turnout at polling stations in all provinces, particularly in the approximately 360 non-resident stations. distributed across the country.

The statement did not specify the status of vote counting, but the NEA said some 67 million citizens are eligible to vote in more than 9,000 polling stations across Egypt.
