The Darien Regional Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of eight Panamanian citizens for sexually abusing a group of migrants.

The justice agencies detailed that the 8 criminals are accused of crimes once morest individual freedom, aggravated robbery, once morest freedom, aggravated rape and illicit association.
Among the 40 aggrieved migrants, 36 came from Venezuela and four from Panama. In addition, in the group there was a minor, sexually abused by antisocials.
The unfortunate event occurred last August. The Darien Regional Prosecutor’s Office had not been able to deliver justice until this week, when the subjects were arrested.
The entity pointed out that the crimes were committed on August 17, 2022, at approximately 4 in the followingnoon. They specified that the migrants were on the route towards Canaán Membrillo, Sector of Quebrada Chiquero, in Río Subcurtí.
VULNERABILITY OF MIGRANTS
The report specifies that the 40 migrants were lost. At that moment they are intercepted by 10 people carrying firearms. The criminals subdued them and tied them with straps to prevent them from continuing their journey. In addition, they seized their property and belongings.

However, the worst was yet to come. After carrying out the robbery, they proceeded to sexually abuse the minor and several women of Venezuelan nationality who made up the group.
