Eitrem Wins World Allround Speed Skating Title | Van de Bunt & Stolz React

Heerenveen, Netherlands – Sander Eitrem of Norway has been crowned the world allround speed skating champion, capitalizing on a strong performance and a visibly fatigued Jordan Stolz of the United States. The culmination of the competition, held in Thialf, saw Eitrem secure the title after a dramatic 10-kilometer race, marking a significant victory for Norwegian skating and equaling their tally of 40 world allround championship wins alongside the Netherlands NOS.

Eitrem’s victory comes after setting a new track record on the 5000 meters with a time of 6:01.61, breaking Patrick Roest’s previous record. He entered the final day in second place, trailing Stolz, but ultimately overtook the American skater who struggled with fatigue after competing in both the World Sprint and Allround championships. Stolz, who initially built a substantial lead with a winning 500-meter time of 34.22 seconds, finished outside the podium NOS.

Eitrem’s Path to Victory

The Norwegian skater expressed relief and satisfaction with his performance, acknowledging the challenging competition. “Jordan Stolz will be tough to beat, but I see We see possible,” Eitrem said before the final race, recognizing Stolz’s strength but remaining optimistic about his chances RTL Nieuws.
