FORMER Deputy Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Saut Situmorang, emphasized that the opportunity to roll out the right to inquiry in the DPR is very strong. According to him, the fraud that occurred in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) in a structured, systematic and massive manner (TSM) has become a significant capital.
In the program “Crosscheck by Medcom.id“titled ‘Stuns, Questionnaires Hostage to Legal Cases?’ which is hosted on a YouTube account Medcom.id on Sunday, March 10 2024, Saut explained the essence of the process. According to him, the main focus is the existence of TSM, and without this, the door to discussing this issue will not be open.
Saut underlined the importance of involving all parties suspected of knowing regarding election fraud. They are expected to provide information that supports and strengthens the evidence of fraud that occurred.
“The DPR has the obligation to summon them one by one and ask for an explanation. The DPR RI has the right to collect information which can then be reconfirmed,” said Saut.
According to him, the DPR can learn from the inquiry process regarding Century Bank in 2009. This case succeeded in uncovering the flow of aid funds to Century Bank.
“They have been able to take Century for prosecution. Moreover, if we are talking regarding a case of election fraud which is so clear, the evidence is very open and transparent,” added Saut. (Z-10)
