Election Law: Constitutional Court Judgment Sunday | Election Law: Constitutional Court verdict on Sunday

KUWAIT CITY: The Constitutional Court will rule on Sunday in cases regarding a legal provision that deprives those involved and convicted of crimes from running in elections. The court took up the matter on Thursday and examined it in detail. The action of the Home Ministry disqualifying 15 candidates who had given their papers to contest the elections to be held on 29th led to court proceedings. The appellate court quashed the Home Ministry’s action and allowed all to contest.

The Court of Appeal, which overturned the disqualification of three candidates, suspended the decisions of five pending the Constitutional Court’s ruling. This brought the matter to the Constitutional Court. Candidates and political circles are anxiously waiting for the court verdict as only days are left for the elections.
