An official source at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy denied the validity of the rumors that were circulating regarding the distribution companies adopting a new increase in the prices of electricity consumption segments, which is unannounced and secret, according to what some have described, stressing that this talk is completely untrue and work is continuing at the segment prices until next June. Until any new decisions are announced.
The source confirmed to Masrawy that talk regarding announcing new increases in the prices of electricity consumption segments is premature and there are no developments in this file specifically because any decision will be made through the Council of Ministers only.
He pointed out that the current cost of a kilowatt-hour has increased somewhat, in addition to the new increases announced by the Egyptian government in the prices of various fuels, especially diesel, diesel and natural gas.
Last January, the Ministry of Electricity approved an increase in the consumption tariff for various usage segments from January until June 30 by a rate ranging between 16 and 26%.
