Elimination of Farm Conversions and Inspection Campaigns in Al Sheehaniya: Ensuring Workers’ Accommodation Compliance and Public Control

The authorities have completely eliminated the trend of converting farms into workers’ residences within the Doha Al Shihania Municipality. Nasser Abdelhadi Al Ansi, director of the control department at Al Shihanaya Municipality, said that with the tightening of inspections and measures once morest the behavior of turning farms into living quarters for workers, this trend has been completely eliminated.

At present, this method has not been found within the municipal limits, but regular inspections are continuing. 3 locations have been allocated for accommodation of the workers namely Maitar, Umm Al Subara and Mikanes. At the same time, in the inspection conducted by the Technical Control Department till July, 900 violations of the law have been found, such as providing accommodation for workers in the family housing sector, encroachment of government land, and construction of buildings without prior permission.

Inspections conducted by the Public Control Department also reported 800 violations related to unlicensed installation of billboards, abandonment of vehicles and violation of public cleanliness. Over 100 violations were filed during the Food Control Department’s inspection. 13 food establishments were closed for violating the rules.
