(CNN) — Billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, announced Thursday the appointment of a new CEO for the platform, which he said will start working within 6 weeks.
Musk said, via Twitter: “My role will move to the position of Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer, overseeing products, software and computers,” without mentioning the name of the new official.
Elon Musk had previously announced that he would step down as CEO of the company, but only when he found a successor, following he launched a poll regarding his stay in office and millions of users voted in favor of stepping down.
Musk said, in a previous tweet, that following submitting the resignation, he may continue to exercise significant influence over the decision-making process at Twitter.
