Emeren Group Connects First Solar Energy Storage Project in China: A Glimpse into China’s Rapidly Growing Solar Industry

2023-10-10 10:34:30

Solar project developer Emeren Group said on Tuesday it completed the grid connection of its first solar energy storage project last month in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, China.

The project has a capacity of 1.2 megawatt hours (MWh) and is supported by a long-term private power purchase agreement with a local supplier.

China’s installed solar capacity will double to 1,000 gigawatts (GW) by the end of 2026, as the world’s second-largest economy continues to increase investment in renewable energy, energy research firm Rystad Energy said in a note published last month.

“We currently have a portfolio of projects in the planning and execution stages in China, including several commercial and industrial (C&I) scale storage projects that are currently under construction,” said Yumin Liu, CEO of Emeren Group, in a press release.
