Emirates agrees to cap tickets to London Heathrow | Corporate News

In a joint statement issued by Emirates and Heathrow Airport Saturday, July 16, the airline said it had agreed to cap sales of airline tickets until mid-August, adding that passengers who had already booked their tickets would continue to travel according to the itinerary.

“Emirates has agreed that it is ready and willing to work with the airport to rectify the situation over the next two weeks, and to provide passengers with a smooth and reliable journey through Heathrow this summer,” the statement read.

Earlier, Emirates rejected an order from Heathrow Airport for airlines to reduce passenger numbers to ease the summer travel chaos sparked by staff shortages.

The airport decided to limit the total number of departing passengers at 100,000 per day for the two months until September 11, asking airlines to stop selling summer tickets.
