Emirates Airlines said that one of its A380 aircraft stopped at Nice airport in France, following suffering damage to its right wing. While it was reported that the accident was caused by a drone, a spokesman for the airline said, “Emirates Airlines confirms that flight EK77 from Dubai to Nice on August 18 landed normally, and the passengers and crew disembarked safely.”
In a written response to Al-Khaleej, the spokesman added: “When the plane landed, the engineers discovered some damage to a chip on the right wing, and the plane will remain on the ground for a more comprehensive evaluation. Safety is our top priority and it will not be compromised or compromised one inch.”
For its part, the French Navigation Authority confirmed that it is taking the necessary measures following the accident, noting that it cannot yet confirm whether the cause of the accident was a drone.
