DOHA, December 17, WAM/ Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine national football team, refused to consider the final match of the 2022 World Cup as just a confrontation between Argentine star Lionel Messi and French striker Kylian Mbappe.
The Argentine national team will meet its French counterpart tomorrow in the World Cup final, through which both teams are looking forward to winning their third title in the history of the tournament.
Scaloni, 44, said that tomorrow’s match is not just a confrontation between Messi and Mbappe, but rather a match and confrontation between two teams, each of which has other players who are able to shape and draw the shape of the match, as it is a confrontation between a collective effort of one team and its counterpart in the other team.
Despite this, Scaloni expressed his hope that Messi would carry the championship trophy at the end of tomorrow’s match.
He pointed out that his team had drawn up its plan for the match and that it was well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing team, stressing that the team would seek to settle the match without reaching penalty kicks, but it would need to choose the best elements to shoot the penalty shootout if the two teams resorted to it.
