LONDON, October 9 / WAM / Arsenal continued their distinguished start in the English Premier League this season with a precious 3-2 victory over Liverpool today in the summit match of the tenth round of the competition, which also saw Manchester United beat its host Everton 2-1.
Arsenal regained the top spot in the competition with 24 points, one point ahead of defending champion Manchester City.
Arsenal doubled Liverpool’s plight in the competition this season, as Liverpool’s balance froze at 10 points in tenth place following 8 games the team has played so far.
At Goodison Park, Manchester United escaped a new defeat this season, and overturned a clean goal to win 2-1 at Everton thanks to a goal scored by veteran Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, to advance to fifth place in the competition table.
The same round today also saw Crystal Palace beat Leeds United 2-1 and West Ham beat Fulham 3-1.
