Emirates News Agency – At least 7 people were killed in a fire in a Philippine passenger ferry

MANILA, 23 May/WAM/ At least seven people were killed as a fire broke out today on a Philippine high-speed ferry carrying 134 people, while seven passengers are still missing, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.

The coast guard said the ferry caught fire before it reached the port of Real in Quezon Province, regarding 60 km east of the capital, Manila.

He added in a statement that five women and two men died, while 120 passengers were rescued, 23 of whom were injured.
