Emirates News Agency – Brazilian soccer legend Pele dies aged 82

SAO PAULO, 29th December, 2022 (WAM) — Pelé, the legendary Brazilian soccer player who rose from barefoot poverty to one of the greatest and best-known athletes in modern history, died on Thursday at the age of 82, Archyde.com reported.

The death of the only man to have won the World Cup three times as a player has been confirmed by his daughter Kely Nascimento on Instagram.

Pelé had been undergoing regular chemotherapy since having a colon tumor removed in September 2021.
