Emirates News Agency – Cleveland Clinic Hospital: Specific surgeries for patients with congenital facial diseases

ABU DHABI, 19th December, 2020 (WAM) — Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi hosted the Operation Smile Foundation program to perform 15 surgical procedures on infants aged six months and over and young adults with cleft lip and cleft palate.

The surgeries were performed in late November at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, whose facilities allowed all patients to complete the recovery phase.

The hospital’s medical teams, including anesthesiologists, physicians, nurses and support staff, have dedicated the time and resources needed to enable these young patients to benefit from the world-class surgical procedures performed by the UAE Operation Smile Foundation medical team.

Dr. Jorge Guzman, CEO of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, said, “This initiative falls within the framework of our social responsibility to provide the community with all possible means of support. We at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi believe in the need to assume our responsibilities and support these surgical procedures that improve the quality of life of these young patients and provide them to the largest possible number of these patients in the UAE and abroad.”
