Emirates News Agency – France and Iraq sign a strategic partnership agreement

Paris, January 27 / WAM / France and Iraq signed a strategic partnership agreement in order to strengthen bilateral relations and establish a formal and permanent framework for the diverse and comprehensive relationship in various fields of cooperation.

The Elysee said in a statement today that the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad al-Sudani, to France on the 26th and 27th.
January at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, indicating that France and Iraq reaffirmed with this agreement the richness and diversity of the partnership between them.
The statement emphasized Macron and Al-Sudani’s desire to raise the level of French-Iraqi cooperation in a way that benefits all Iraqis’ access to public energy and transportation services.
In this regard, the two sides renewed their commitment to the completion of major projects related to network infrastructure in Iraq, which depend on French expertise, especially projects
ongoing to renew the Iraqi electricity network.
