LONDON, June 30 / WAM / Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal qualified for the third round of the English Open / Wimbledon, the third of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the current season, following defeating his Lithuanian rival Ricardos Berankis 6-4, 6-4, 4-6 and 6-3.
For the second match in a row, Nadal, the former world number one, faced resistance from his rivals in the first rounds of the tournament, and needed 3 hours and two minutes to win his match today, “Thursday”.
Nadal, the second seed, will meet in the third round with Lorenzo Sonego in search of his 33rd win this season, knowing that he has lost only two matches in 2022 so far.
