TOKYO, October 11 / WAM / The Japanese stock indices fell at the close of trading today, while the performance of the Chinese markets was mixed.
The Nikkei index on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed down by 2.64%, equivalent to 714.86 points, to close at 26401.25 points.
The broader Topix index fell by 1.86%, equivalent to 35.56 points, to close at 1871.24 points.
The performance of Chinese stock indices varied, with the “ESI” Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange rising by 0.19%, or 5.65 points, to reach 2,979.79 points.
While the Chinese Hang Seng Index fell by 2.23%, equivalent to 384.3 points, to reach the level of 16,832.36 points.
