New York, January 30, WAM/ The United Nations condemned the suicide bombing that took place in a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan today, and resulted in the death and injury of dozens.
The official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed the solidarity of the international organization with the government and people of Pakistan in efforts to confront terrorism and extremism that lead to violence.
He denounced the attack on a place of worship and affirmed that freedom of expression and belief, including the ability to worship in peace and security, is a universal human right. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
