Energy prices: the government (finally) decides on new aid measures for homes and businesses

Please note that an income condition will also apply. The discounted basic package is a neat intervention for people with low and middle incomes. For people whose income exceeds the limits below, the tax authorities will consider the intervention as a taxable benefit, which means that they will have to partially reimburse it via their tax return two years later.

The income limits are as follows:

  • Individuals whose annual net taxable income does not exceed 62,000 euros (for information, the median net taxable income is 37,273 euros in our country);
  • Couples whose annual net taxable income does not exceed 125,000 euros;
  • For each additional dependent, 3700 euros are added to this annual net taxable income.

For households heating with oil, the current check of 225 euros will increase to 300 euros until March 31, 2023.
