About a hundred people, activists from Extinction Rebellion, occupied Piazza del Viminale, headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior, in Rome in tents after dumping 5 quintals of manure in front of the entrance. “The only security is this climate of shit”, we read on one of the banners. In the meantime, environmental activists say, the police intervened. Some people were stopped and taken away while they were trying to climb trees in the square to display a banner. “The people who entered the tents were dragged out, the tents destroyed and seized, while other people practiced passive resistance and sat on the ground, surrounded by a cordon of the police. A protest with strong, but colorful and strictly nonviolent, which comes after a year of government policies that have led to increased investments in fossil fuels and the promotion of new penalties for those who protest, at a time when Italy and the entire world are affected by extreme climate events increasingly intense”, the activists’ complaint.
