Environmental Authorities Fine Neymar $3.3 Million for Construction Violations in Mangaratiba, Brazil

The Brazilian municipality of Mangaratiba announced this Monday that it fined soccer player Neymar for some works he carried out at his beach house in that city in the state of Rio de Janeiro and that were suspended by the environmental authorities.

The fine was set at 16 million reais. (3.3 million dollars or three million euros) and refers to the construction of an artificial lake in the extensive gardens of the residence, in which the player of the Brazilian team and the French PSG rest these days.

Two weeks ago, the residence was visited by the environmental authorities, who discovered various irregularities, seized the works and prohibited the use of the lake, a decision that Neymar then he failed to comply, according to videos posted on the internet with images of a party he offered a few days later.

Among the irregularities detected are the diversion of the course of some streams, the unauthorized collection of water from a river, prohibited excavations, irregular movement of rocks and earth, and the use of sand from the beach near the house.

The works were being carried out in the Aero Rural condominium, neighboring Portobello, where the player has another luxurious mansion of regarding 5,000 square meters.
