The Greens are deeply concerned regarding Azerbaijan’s “anti-terror operations” and warn of further escalation

Vienna (OTS) “We may be facing an outbreak of war. The situation is extremely dangerous due to the so-called ‘anti-terror operation’ launched by Azerbaijan. The international community must now urgently pull out all the stops to prevent war and quickly defuse the disastrous humanitarian situation,” says Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic, Green Party spokeswoman for foreign policy and human rights.

Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorism operations” in the Nagorno-Karabakh region today, Tuesday. The situation is confusing; there is sometimes talk of artillery fire. The Defense Ministry in Baku said the operations were directed once morest Armenian forces.

“I am deeply concerned regarding the possibility of a full-scale war between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh. The stationing of troops by both sides at the country’s borders and the delivery of weapons to the crisis area are also contributing to the escalation. This has to end. “Everything humanly possible must now be done to promote a return to dialogue and to ensure stability in the region in compliance with international law,” emphasizes Ernst-Dziedzic.
