Escalating Tensions in Ukraine: Russian Counteroffensive Halted, Skirmishes Persist near Robotyne and Shcherbaky

Russia has announced the end of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. This has been “completely stopped,” said Yevgeny Balitsky, the top official in the Zaporizhzhia region appointed by Moscow, in a statement. There are still a few smaller skirmishes near the village of Robotyne and near the village of Shcherbaky. There were conflicting reports from Ukraine.

The Ukrainian General Staff previously said Russian forces had made several unsuccessful attacks near Robotyne and Verbowe, a village a few kilometers east. Ukrainian forces carried out “offensive operations” in the direction of Melitopol in the west of the Zaporizhzhia region and “exhausted the enemy there along the entire front line.” Russia, however, reported that its air defense forces had repelled Ukrainian air strikes there.
