Ethiopia wins first gold in athletics; Solomon first in 10,000m | Selemon Barega of Ethiopia 10

Tokyo: Ethiopia wins first gold in Tokyo Olympics athletics Solomon Barega finished first in the 10,000 meters.

Solomon’s gold went to world record holder Joshua Cheptegi of Uganda in second place. The Ethiopian reached the finish line in 27 minutes and 43.22 seconds.

Despite putting out the best performance of the season, Joshua was unable to repeat the world record performance. The Ugandan finished in 27 minutes and 43.63 seconds.

The bronze went to Jacob Kiplimo from Uganda. Time: 27: 43.88. The Olympic record in this category is held by Ethiopia’s Kenisa Bekela (27: 01.17).
