Meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, the defense ministers of the 27 reaffirmed their common desire to support kyiv in its fight once morest the Russian army. However, the question of the resources committed and the pace of European aid arises, at a time when Ukraine recognizes the failure of its counter-offensive started in June.

“We are doing a lot, but everyone agrees that we must do more and faster,” said the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell. On the German side, it was admitted that the goal of supplying one million munitions to kyiv by spring would not be achieved. “Look at Russia. It is producing more than ever. They are receiving munitions from North Korea,” warned Estonian Minister Hanno Pevkur. “Europe cannot say that Russia and North Korea can keep their commitments and we cannot,” he added.

Within the EU, we are today wondering regarding the means committed to helping Ukraine. Josep Borrell also explained that he would present before the end of the month a revised plan of European objectives concerning the support provided to the Ukrainians. This includes anticipating a summit of the 27, scheduled for mid-December.
