European Champion Niklas Kaul (Mainz) had to end the decathlon following four disciplines because of a foot injury. “I’m very disappointed. I’m very annoyed with myself and, above all, I’m very annoyed with my body,” said Kaul, who was close to tears: “And yes, it’s just super shit – to put it in good German. Because I really had fun.”
