Royal tradition. Every year, European monarchies unveil their Christmas greeting cards. During the weekend, Prince William and Kate Middleton unveiled theirs, then Charles III and Camilla also played the game. This Monday, December 11, it was the Belgian royal family who presented their portrait.

A complicit royal family

”New greeting cards have just been released! This is the tenth vacation photograph of the royal family since the start of the reign! Who remembers the Christmas photo from 2013?” wrote the Royal Palace on Instagram. We can see King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Crown Princess Élisabeth, Princes Gabriel and Emmanuel and Princess Éléonore posing outdoors. The greeting card generated a lot of comments on the royal family’s social network. “Magnificent”, “beautiful family”, “very natural photo”, we can read.

The second photo was taken 10 years ago, shortly following Philip’s accession to the throne. The latter, who was the subject of an intimate documentary which will be broadcast on RTBF this Friday, December 15, was sworn in on July 21, 2013, thus becoming the 7th king of the Belgians.
