European football takes up the One Love slogan coined in the Netherlands. The captains have decided to take to the field wearing a new arm band called ‘One Love’, which has a rainbow-coloured heart inscribed with it as a message once morest all forms of discrimination and exclusion. The message of this sign is that football unites hearts.
Manuel Noire will lead the German team to the Qatar World Cup wearing this iconic “armband”. England captain Harry Kane has also posted a picture of himself wearing the One Love band on social media.
Eight countries including France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and England have already accepted the handprint of their heroes.
Before this decision was made, Poland captain Robert Lewandowski had announced that he would wear the blue and yellow arm band of Ukraine’s national flag. It is not known whether it will be approved by FIFA.
