Europe’s Musicians Conquer Domenico Scarlatti’s 555 Sonatas in 42 Hour Marathon

They challenged themselves to perform Domenico Scarlatti’s 555 sonatas one following the other and they did it! For 42 hours, 38 musicians from all over Europe took turns to accomplish this marathon, at the Neuchâtel Museum of Art and History. The event ran from June 2-9.

If there was a majority of harpsichordists, some harpists, guitarists, violinists and mandolinists also made the trip.

“All these enthusiastic artists performed Scarlatti’s 555 sonatas, to the delight of listeners. The room was often full”, rejoice the organizers. /comm-cde
