NEW YORK | six years later 1-2-Switch !Nintendo is once once more challenging itself to move the cottages with another series of minigames, challenges and quiz wacky. The newspaper traveled to the Big Apple to learn more and try it out before it hits stores.
The weather is gloomy in New York, the mist settles on the city while the rain drums on the heads of passers-by. The outside view – gray and dreary – contrasts with the atmosphere that reigns inside the industrial loft in Midtown in which Nintendo has invited the journalists.

In a few minutes, one thing is clear: Everybody 1-2-Switch ! undoubtedly has this unifying and festive character as media from different cities in North and South America come together, joystick in hand, to perform zany antics and challenges commanded by the new video game offering hitting stores on the 30 June. The feeling of camaraderie is as palpable as it is instantaneous between the 20 guests gathered around a television.
Because you don’t have to take yourself seriously to play the game. That’s what makes the beauty ofEverybody 1-2-Switch! ; we leave our pride in the locker room before grabbing the Joy-Con and starting a game.
A few minutes at a time
We then move on to serious things when, on the screen, two balloons inflate to the rhythm of the movements of the players who emulate the manipulation of an air pump. Later, it is anthropomorphic rabbits who compete on the screen, moved by the vigorous strokes of the pelvis given by their human counterparts. Yes, there is something divinely absurd in seeing these beings – adults, of course – revert to childhood in front of a video game console.

And this is exactly the mandate that gives itself Everybody 1-2-Switch ! with its ephemeral games – lasting from a few seconds to a handful of minutes, at most – offering matches designed to be played in pairs or teams of up to eight participants locally. The use of smart phones can inflate the number of players up to 100, gathered near the console.
Variety
Unity is therefore strength when the time comes to welcome extraterrestrials to Earth with hand signals. It is then each for himself that the players lend themselves to a quiz general knowledge or go in search of an object of a specific color by brandishing their smartphone.
Other games will invite participants to pretend to trim their own beard, milk a cow or jump rope. The variety of challenges is therefore frankly impressive, ranging from the most serious to the most extreme.
The result remains invariable: pure pleasure. The games are all disarmingly simple, putting novices and seasoned players on equal footing. That’s good news for families who wanted to spice up the evenings with the youngest – or the oldest – generations: no need for skill or experience to handle the Joy-Con in this context so much the controls are easy and instinctive.
Obviously, the author of these lines might not identify the game in its entirety during this one-hour session. But this New York appetizer set the stage for the official release and, above all, aroused our curiosity by promising us many hours of pleasure in the company of Everybody 1-2-Switch !.
Travel and accommodation costs for this trip were provided by Nintendo.
