Ewoud Vromant, beaten in the individual pursuit final, takes the silver medal

Ewoud Vromant won the silver medal in the 3-kilometre individual pursuit event in para cycling track (MC2 class) at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Friday. He was beaten in the final by reigning champion Alexandre Léauté of France.

Léauté clocked a time of 3:26.015. Vromant finished in 3:28.062. Vromant offers a first medal to the Belgian delegation in these Paralympic Games.

At his first Paralympic Games three years ago in Tokyo, Vromant, 40, won the silver medal in the road time trial. In the individual pursuit, he was disqualified by the International Cycling Union (UCI) for “insufficient use of his saddle” after breaking his world record in qualifying.

Ewoud Vromant will compete again in Paris on the road, with the individual time trial and the road race.
