Examining the Axis of Resistance and Lebanon’s Political Opposition: Insights from Ziad Al-Makari

2023-09-18 19:33:21

Caretaker Information Minister Ziad Al-Makari criticized “Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea’s use of the word ‘axis of resistance’ more than once in his recent statement, more than the word ‘Lebanon’,” and asked: “Who is the opposition in the House of Representatives?”

Al-Makari said, in an interview with “An-Nahar,” that “there is a team named following former Minister Jihad Azour, consisting of the Lebanese Forces, the Free Patriotic Movement, the Progressive Socialist Party, some changers, and a number of Sunni representatives and Lebanese Phalange.”
He said: “As the political situation in the country changes, we cannot consider one party to be sovereign and love Lebanon more than the other party. No one can outbid me or the political team to which I belong in love of Lebanon and its sovereignty.”
