Excessive speed; Sharjah police say drivers are repeating the offense despite warnings

Sharjah police say some drivers are repeating the offense despite police warnings of accidents caused by speeding. According to the latest figures for 2021, Sharjah has 7,65,560 speed limit cases on the radar. Many were traveling at speeds of more than 180 kilometers per hour. The highest speed was recorded on Sharjah Khor Fakkan Road. Police said a vehicle was traveling here at a speed of 279 kilometers per hour.

Driving so fast will result in 23 black points on the driver’s license. He faces a fine of 3,000 dirhams and 60 days of foreclosure. A total of 11,74,260 traffic fines were reported in Sharjah in 2021, said Capt. Saud al-Shaiba, director of the Traffic Awareness Branch at the Traffic Petrol Department. These include speeding, not using a seatbelt, and using a mobile phone.
