The 19th edition of the Asian Games will officially begin today in Hangzhou, China. There are 481 competitions in 40 sports categories. The official opening of the largest sports venue in the Asian continent will begin at the Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou from 5:30 pm Indian time. Chinese Prime Minister Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony.
12,417 athletes from 45 countries are participating in various competitions. There are 44 venues. A total of 655 Indian athletes have qualified to participate in the fair in various events. The Indian team won 70 medals in the last Asian Games held in Jakarta.
