The Recording Academy, which presents the annual Grammy Awards, has decided to only award awards to human-made music. Music generated by artificial intelligence must not be honored with this.

The most important music prize in the world, the Grammy Awards, may not be awarded for pieces of music composed by artificial intelligence (AI). “Only human creators qualify for the Grammy Awards,” the Recording Academy said on Friday. In doing so, she wants to curb the use of AI in the industry. However, music created with the help of AI can compete for the award in certain categories, according to the updated Academy rules.

The union of screenwriters in film and TV, Writers Guild of America (WGA), is also concerned with AI. The union wants to limit the use of AI in screenwriting. The WGA writers went on strike in early May and have yet to agree with the film studios on the use of AI and other contentious issues.
