Fascination by the unknown: The special exhibition “Scary Beautiful 2.0 – Uncanny in Art” is dedicated to dark creatures, demons and hybrid creatures over the course of the centuries at Ambras Castle Innsbruck until October 31, 2023. Mysterious figures and mythical traditions are closely linked to constant change and new meanings. Even today, genres such as crime, thriller, fantasy or horror captivate us with their thrill and desire for horror.
Beautiful alongside scary: Devils, Medusa, Greif and Co. invite you to marvel with their diverse stories on the tour of the Ambras High Castle. Magnificent paintings, precious gold treasures and unique pieces give the special exhibition rooms an eerie and beautiful atmosphere. Highlights of the special exhibition include the only surviving portrait of Dracula, Peter Paul Rubens’ famous head of Medusa and the shooting star made from a single piece of wood: the Ambraser Tödlein.
