Executive appoints new director of the National Council of Free Trade Zones

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, appointed Abel Orué Rojas as the new executive director of the National Council of Free Trade Zones, replacing Roque Arsenio González Sosa.

The appointment was made on Thursday, July 11, 2024, through Decree No. 2114, within the framework of Law No. 523/1995 “Which authorizes and establishes the Free Trade Zone Regime”; and the power of the President of the Republic to appoint and remove officials of the Public Administration.

Abel Orué Rojas is an economist, specialist in Public Financial Administration and holds a Master’s degree in Development. He is a career civil servant at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), and held important positions within the Vice Ministry of Economy and Planning (VEP), where he was head of the Department of Financial Analysis of the Directorate of Economic Studies; he was head of the Department of Development Policies; and head of the Department of Development Studies.

He has also been teaching since 2002, teaching subjects such as Macroeconomics, Public Financial Administration, Accounting and Administration, and Political Economy, at various educational institutions.
