The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, instructed the creation of the National Center for Regenerative Medicine, from the Cellular Therapy Unit of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC), for the care of cases of people who have suffered burns, fractures, among others that may be benefited.
During a working day dedicated to Innovation and Research for Good Living, he ordered “support with investment, equipment, technology.”
The President highlighted the need to “continue to support immediate progress in all innovation in science and health.”
“I ask for more and more discipline, more work, more study, more unity, I ask for more and more effort from the scientific community, from the community of knowledge”, said the Head of State.
Maduro emphasized that science and technology must be applied “to health, to life and to living by living,” for which he instructed to form a network of medical scientists who join forces in the deployment of the National Center for Regenerative Medicine.
On the day, the Sectoral Vice President of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, highlighted “the will of the Venezuelan people to do science and advance despite the sanctions and blockades.”
“Science is also from the geopolitical point of view a scientific territory, and as you called, President, that we go towards scientific socialism, the sanctions have become an opportunity to add capacities, and this is a sign of the will of the Venezuelan people, we do of science a tool for life”, he pointed out.
The Cell Therapy Unit of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC), is in charge of tissue regeneration through the application of stem cells, applied to date in traumatology, ophthalmology, dentistry services, among others.
