The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples is searching for an inaugural Executive Director to lead the newly established Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center (JCC), a significant expansion of resources for the area’s Jewish community. This leadership role will be pivotal in shaping the operational culture and strategic direction of the center, which focuses exclusively on Arts, Culture, and Education (ACE) programming.
The JCC, which opened in January 2023, aims to serve as a central gathering place for the Greater Naples Jewish community, estimated to be more than 10,000 people, while likewise welcoming participation from the wider public. The position represents a key opportunity to grow the local Jewish programming ecosystem as an integral part of the Jewish Federation family of agencies. The search for a qualified leader underscores the Federation’s commitment to expanding its reach and impact within the region.
Responsibilities and Oversight
The Executive Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of all JCC-related departments, emphasizing collaborative coordination and customer service. Key areas of supervision include the Programs Department – encompassing Jewish Youth & Family Programs, Facilities & Safety/Security, and Guest Services – as well as collaboration with the Director of Development to create revenue-generating opportunities. The role also requires close coordination with the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) Director to align outreach initiatives with the JCC’s resources and capacity.
A significant component of the position involves championing the volunteer-driven Women’s Cultural Alliance (WCA) and Men’s Cultural Alliance (MCA), which collectively boast over 2,800 active members. The Executive Director will also be responsible for integrating the JCC with other Jewish organizations at the local, national, and international levels, including initiatives focused on security and community resilience. According to the job description, the center will feature Jerusalem stone symbolizing the Western Wall and twelve Royal Palm trees representing the twelve tribes of Israel.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for the Executive Director position must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, with a master’s degree preferred. A minimum of seven years of progressive management or operations experience in a non-profit, arts, cultural, educational, or Jewish organizational setting is required. Demonstrated experience managing multiple departments and building collaborative teams is essential, as is strong financial acumen, including budget management and revenue optimization.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and database management, and a deep commitment to Jewish values and community life. Experience with arts and cultural programming, education, or Jewish community engagement is considered a plus, as is familiarity with the JCC movement and the Jewish Federation system. The salary range for the position is $100,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
The Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center: A Community Hub
The Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center, named in honor of a beloved community member who passed away in July 2020, is a 20,000-square-foot, two-story facility located on Pine Ridge Road in Naples, Florida. WGCU News reported on the center’s opening in January 2023, highlighting its intention to be a welcoming space for all members of the community. The center will host a variety of activities, including the Jewish Book Festival, film screenings, concerts, classes, and programs for young people, but will not hold regular religious services.
Security was a major consideration during the building’s planning phase, reflecting broader concerns about rising antisemitism. The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples, comprised of approximately 15 professionals, emphasizes a collaborative and supportive culture, valuing professionalism and open communication. The Federation’s leadership views the JCC as a vital component of its mission to serve both the Jewish community and the broader Naples area.
Applications, including a cover letter, resume, and three professional references, should be submitted to Nammie Ichilov, President & CEO, at [email protected]. The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds and faiths.
The appointment of an Executive Director marks a crucial step in the ongoing development of the Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center and its potential to become a thriving hub for arts, culture, and community engagement in Southwest Florida. The Federation will be looking for a leader who can build upon the center’s strong foundation and guide its growth in the years to come.
