Dogta-Lafiè hospital (Agoé, suburb of Lomé), recently inaugurated, is expanding its offering.

Interventional cardiology, trauma, visceral and general surgical blocks and the hemodialysis service are now offered to patients.

“We have acquired the latest generation of devices which will promote the development of our activities,” said Ayouveï Akata, the medical director, on Monday.

Interventional cardiology is a medical specialty that treats heart disease through non-surgical interventions.

Interventional cardiologists use catheters and other instruments to access the arteries and veins of the heart. They can then perform a variety of procedures to treat conditions such as coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias and congenital heart defects.

Interventional cardiology is a relatively new specialty, which began to develop in the 1960s.

Technological advances have allowed cardiologists to develop increasingly sophisticated techniques.

These techniques have made it possible to treat more and more heart diseases non-invasively, with results often better than surgery.
