In a groundbreaking move to enhance the quality of life for its residents, Gangwon Donghae City Hall announced on October 2nd an ambitious plan to upgrade and expand public sports facilities across the city. New Sports Facilities for Clubs and Youth

The city is spending 3.9 billion won to construct a six-page tennis court and a youth baseball field near the Haeoreum Sports Center, scheduled for completion by July. These developments align with the city’s vision to provide comprehensive facilities for various sports clubs.

Expansion of Footpaths to Promote Healthier Lifestyles

In the second half of the year, Donghae City will invest an additional 1.2 billion won to expand the five-footpaths in the East Sea Well-being and Sports Town. This move is part of a broader effort to increase opportunities for everyday physical activity and outdoor recreation.

Improvements to Golf Courses and Athletic Parks

The city is also enhancing its golfing facilities with a 300 million won investment in the Donghae Mureung Park Golf Course, a 27-hole course known for its scenic beauty. Furthermore, the city plans to open a sports and amusement park in Jeoncheon, a civic healing space that will offer free access for both the young and the elderly.

Parking and Infrastructure Upgrades

To ensure convenience and safety, the city allocated 3.8 billion won this year for various infrastructure improvements. These include revamping the East Sports Town parking lot, upgrading the stadium billboard, and enhancing grandparents’ facilities in the comprehensive stadium.

Vision for the Future

Director Chun Soo-jeong of Sports and Education emphasized the city’s commitment to expanding and improving sports facilities. He stated, “We will do our best to make public sports more accessible and make public sports facilities more convenient by collecting administrative power to expand and improve sports facilities.”
