The illusions of New York Yankees fans to see Ian Happ come to the team this MLB season were dashed when the outfielder signed a contract extension with the Chicago Cubs.
In the Bronx they are leaving the crisis behind and gradually rising in the East Division, but they will need help to continue battling in this Major League campaign in which they have so many expectations.
And while Happ is no longer available, the Chicago organization still has pieces that may interest New York.
The 28-year-old Venezuelan reliever was called to be one of the Cubs’ starters last season, but an injury left him without a chance and upon his return he went to the bullpen, where he has had a good performance. He’s been used 18 times this year and while he’s 1-3, his 2.66 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 23.2 innings are among the best numbers on the Bear Cubs’ reliever staff and may interest the Yankees.
