Aubameyang shoots Arsenal to win the FA Cup
He was the match winner: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang secured the title for Arsenal with his two goals in the FA Cup final. A former Borussian also scored the goal of the inferior Chelsea.
Arsenal have won the English Cup for the 14th time. Thanks to the double pack of former Dortmund player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gunners won 2-1 (1-1) in the FA Cup final on Saturday against local rivals FC Chelsea and thus also qualified for the Europa League.
Christian Pulisic met for the lead
Aubameyang (28th minute / penalty kick, 67th) turned the game for the record cup winner after Chelsea took the lead early on from former BVB professional Christian Pulisic (5th). Chelsea had to end the game after a yellow-red card for Mateo Kovacic (73.) outnumbered.
Arsenal, in which German ex-world champion Mesut Özil was again not in the squad, brought a reconciliatory conclusion to an otherwise disappointing season. As eighth in the Premier League, the Londoners had previously missed the Europa League qualification via the table position. Coach Mikel Arteta had already won the FA Cup twice with Arsenal as a player.
