Face-to-face in Mauricie: the passenger of a vehicle dies of her injuries after a collision

A 36-year-old woman died overnight from Sunday to Monday following being the victim of a head-on collision in Saint-Narcisse, Mauricie.

The accident took place shortly before 4 p.m. on Route 359, which connects the St. Lawrence River to the interior. For a reason unknown to the police, the driver deviated from her lane and found herself in the opposite direction. The face-to-face with a second car took place a few seconds later.

Four individuals were transported to a hospital. “Extrication pliers were needed to get one of the victims out,” said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). Apart from the 36-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle hit by the offending car, the three other people escaped with minor injuries.
