Faculty of Medicine of Zaragoza: Reform and Rehabilitation Plan for 2026

2024-01-05 12:01:49

The Faculty of Medicine of the Aragonese capital faces a profound process of reform and rehabilitation. It is the star action of the University of Zaragoza until 2026. The works will begin at the end of the course and, in the first phase, just over nine million euros will be invested.

It has been 50 years since the faculty arrived from the Paraninfo to the San Francisco campus. 5,000 students then filled the classrooms. As the years passed, the number of students reduced and the training needs changed.

The University reform plan, which will be put out to tender to begin construction before the end of the year, contemplates start with building B for offices and classrooms. They will open it to Violante Street in Hungary, set up new laboratories and a virtual hospital and build a large biomedical sciences library. “So that it is a biomedical library service that facilitates the work of university students, but also of the society of Zaragoza and Aragon regarding these needs,” explains Javier Lanuza, dean of the faculty.

Once this phase is completed, building A will be renovated, dedicated to the central administration and cafeteria services.. They propose maintaining the Ramón y Cajal auditorium in its current location.
